Flightplan is the first English-language movie by the German director Robert Schwentke, and stars Jodie Foster making a comeback of sorts as a recently-bereaved wife who takes her small daughter on a transatlantic flight. Sean Bean apears as the pilot, Greta Scacchi plays a fellow passenger who happens to be a psychiatrist and Peter Sarsgaard is the on-board security guard.
During the journey Foster loses her daughter. Or she may be mad. However she is definitely an aircraft designer in her spare time, so she’s able to create a chase throughout all the nooks and crannies trying to find her possibly non-existent daughter. It’s all very slick and holds together until one twist too many tips it into complete implausibility. Sort of Panic Room on a plane but not as good, though the DVD is nicely done and you could do a lot worse.
