Hostage is the first American movie for director Florent Siri, who made the terrific The Nest a few years back.
Bruce Willis stars as a kidnap negotiator and to give the plot away would be unfair, except to say it involves more than one hostage situation, some surprisingly harsh violence and it generates a fair bit of excitement. Visually it’s very assured and even gets away with resorting to slow motion several times.
The supporting cast includes a few familiar faces, especially for Prison Break fans, with the likes of Marshal Allman, Robert Knepper and Kim Coates.
Recommended for everyone but the faint-hearted.
