Samurai Cop was made in the late ‘80s after the success of the Maniac Cop series, and the ‘star’ of that series, Robert Z’Dar, appears here as the chief bad guy. Nobody else is vaguely recognisable unless you’ve spent your life watching the wrong sort of movies, and it’s horribly directed and acted.
However it’s all made vastly entertaining once you turn the commentary track on, and Joe Bob Briggs even fits in a few digs at Cruise’s recent Samurai venture. Out now in R1.
